A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Spring Mountains, including Mt. Charleston and Lee Canyon, from 11 PM Wednesday to 11 PM PDT Thursday. If you’re planning a trip to the mountains, expect hazardous conditions and significant snowfall.
Heavy snowfall is expected, with 6 to 12 inches accumulating above 7,000 feet and 3 to 5 inches above 5,500 feet. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions. Roads may become difficult to impassable, and tree branches could fall due to strong winds and heavy snow.
To stay safe, avoid traveling unless necessary. If you must drive, carry chains, extra food, water, and warm clothing. Check road conditions before heading up the mountain by visiting nvroads.com. Be prepared for potential power outages due to strong winds, and dress in layers with insulated, waterproof gear to stay warm.
